Club History

Our Club got its start in 1982 as the North Dallas Modular Railroad Club. For the first two years the Club operated out of members' homes. Over the next several years the Club occupied five different locations around the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex. In late 2016, the Club moved to the Collin Creek Mall in Plano, Texas. Due to the planned redevelopment of the mall property in 2019 we have relocated to our current home at 11999 Plano Road, Suite 154, Dallas, TX 75243 and currently have over 90 active members.

HO Club Layout

The current club layout covers an area of 3,000 square feet. There are two independent main line tracks, each 246 feet long with 28” minimum radius curves. At scale speed a train takes almost four minutes to complete the loop. We've recently completed a large staging yard that has greatly enhanced our weekly operating sessions!

Each of the four track systems may be selected for DC or DCC power. You can run a vintage DC engine on one track while running a modern sound decoder equipped DCC engine on another track. The DC and DCC systems both utilize wireless throttles. Additionally, we offer wireless connectivity through JMRI to operate your DCC equipped trains using a Wi-Fi enabled tablet or smart phone.

In order to properly configure multiple DCC decoder equipped engines we have a JMRI speed matching table for members' use.

N Scale Layout Under Construction

We are currently in the late construction and early scenery stages of our new 5'x20' semi-permanent N scale layout. We invite interested N scale modelers to visit our new club facility and check us out! If you're interested in becoming a member, come join us in building our new semi-permanent N scale layout!

Benefits

Once accepted to the Club, new members will have unrestricted access to the layout. Unlike other clubs that limit the amount of time that members can spend running trains, you will have virtually unlimited access 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, 7 days a week, all year long. Depending upon space availability, members may have their own personal 72”h x 36”w x 24”d storage locker on premises. This means that you can spend more time enjoying your trains and less time hauling them to and from the club. Members also have access to the Club sales tables at local model train shows when the Club participates in the show. Club members have the free use of Club owned throttles, both DC and DCC. All benefits for members are available for a reasonable monthly membership fee. Click button below for membership form.
